The Prospect of Whitby
The Prospect of Whitby is one of Wapping's best kept secrets. With a sublime riverfront view of the Thames and a terrace beer garden, this pub is one of the oldest pubs on the Thames, dating from around 1520. Historical records state that the Prospect was a meeting place for sailors, smugglers, murderers and thieves. It also became notorious for the hanging of pirates, which explains the faux noose that's suspended outside the beer garden to this day.
This pub is for you if you’re after some freshly cooked traditional British pub food. Especially if you’re in the mood for a Sunday roast brimming with tender meats, crispy roasties and fluffy Yorkshire puds.
