The Six reasons why you should spend Christmas at the pub
No matter how big your house feels, it can suddenly seem much smaller when you've got a crowd of people squeezed around your dining table. There's also the pressure of sourcing enough chairs for everyone to sit on, which usually results in a random mismatch of styles, as well as a large supply of plates, glasses and cutlery.
Many of us look forward to tucking into a festive feast but if you're cooking for a large crowd, your kitchen could seem ill-equipped. You may also have to cater for a variety of requirements and intolerances, as well as fussy eaters.
And when everyone's plates are empty and the day is drawing to a close, you're then faced with a kitchen sink piled high with dirty dishes. It's enough to turn anyone into a Scrooge.
So how about spending Christmas at the pub?
At Greene King, our doors are open on December 25th and ready to welcome you and your loved ones for a special day of festive fun. With a generous food and drinks menu, as well as a dedicated team of staff, you'll wonder why you didn't spend the day with us sooner.
You can accommodate a bigger party
Our dining spaces are so popular, they often draw a crowd and we say the more the merrier. Check with your local Greene King pub about how many spots you can reserve for a single table, or see whether they have a function room for a bigger celebration!
Our venues can feel so decadent
With hundreds of venues across the UK, there’s always a Greene King near you. And so many of our venues are a visual feast for the eyes.
The Albert is an iconic venue that survived The Blitz and is now a Grade II listed pub. It was named in tribute to Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert. In Cambridge, the Baron of Beef has been serving pints to locals since 1752 and is full of vintage character, with low ceilings and exposed oak beams. The Ye Olde Starre Inn in Yorkshire was first built in 1644 and served as a hospital and mortuary for soldiers. This Grade II listed building has witnessed centuries of York's history, and it has a few stories of its own.
