Rugby: Autumn Nations 2024: Key dates and which pubs are showing it

We may not have triumphed in the Euros but rugby fans can rejoice as England and Scotland have another shot at sporting success with the Autumn Nations.

The annual event sees the giants of southern hemisphere rugby - South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina - tour the northern hemisphere to compete against the Six Nations teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

But when does this year's tournament kick-off, what are England, Scotland and Wales chances for a win and where can you watch the action? This is what you need to know.

How has England previously done in the Autumn Nations?

Last year's Rugby World Cup took place in France during the autumn so fans didn’t get to enjoy a full series of Autumn Internationals in the UK & Ireland.

2022 proved a disappointment for England too, as they suffered a defeat to Argentina in their opening match. They enjoyed a victory over Japan in their second match but then faced a draw against the New Zealand All Blacks and another defeat by South Africa’s Springboks.

The 2021 series was a welcome return for fans following the Covid pandemic and one of the biggest highlights was witnessing England defeat South Africa by a single point at Twickenham in their opening match.

According to the World Rugby ranking, South Africa is the current number-one team in the world.

They retained their title in the 2023 Rugby World Cup when they defeated New Zealand in the final to become the first team to win the tournament four times
