Historically played since 1860, the Open Championship is the oldest golfing tournament in the world and has seen a plethora of incredible players compete and win in each edition. The R&A organise the event, naming it ‘The Open’ because its qualification routes mean that both amateurs and professionals can attend. The Open Championship is usually the fourth and final major in each golf season.
