Cheers her(e): greene king turns up the volume for the women’s euros with new fan anthems

  • Women’s football fans team up with Maisie Adam to create a pub experience like never before, with Greene King introducing more screen time, new Lioness-inspired chants and even a new celebratory beer
  • Greene King pledges to help women’s sports fans, as 33% want to feel the same pride and energy in pubs as they do watching men’s games

London, 1st July 2025: As excitement for the Women’s Euros reaches fever pitch, Greene King is inviting the nation to get behind the Lionesses like never before with the launch of its first ever ‘chant book’, a collection of anthems written by fans, for fans, of the women’s game.

The chant book is launched as research of over 2,000 fans by Greene King reveals the elements that women’s sports fans feel would improve pub atmosphere and sense of community during games. The most common suggestions included more cheering and clapping (30%), more opportunities to watch together (26%) and dedicated chants (19%).

All the chants playfully parody familiar tunes by celebrated musical artists and have been designed to help ‘bring the energy’ to pubs during the Women’s Euros. Featuring pithy lyrical narrative about the Lionesses’ achievements on the pitch, sports fans can enjoy individual chants about Michelle Agyemang, Lucy Bronze, Chloe Kelly and Alessia Russo, while all 23 squad members are referenced in one rousing rendition.

Co-created with comedian, football super fan and host of the Big Kick Energy podcast Maisie Adam, Greene King’s iconic chants will be played in more than 900 of its pubs throughout the tournament. Every time a player scores, the pubs are able to press play on that player’s dedicated song– encouraging fans to come together and roar for the Lionesses this summer.

Greene King has already committed to broadcasting Women’s Euros matches and showing every minute of every game as they did for the Men’s Euros last year. The pub chain is now stepping things up to tackle the atmosphere that one in three (33%) fans say pubs are lacking when it comes to showing women’s sport as part of a wider initiative to make the pub accessible for all fans - as well as providing them with the means to bring the noise.

Maisie Adam has joined fans to record their own versions of the chants from the pub garden terrace of Greene King’s The Station in Stoneleigh, and is encouraging fans to learn and sing the chants loud and proud to show their support, ahead of the first England game this Saturday (5th July).

Maisie Adam said: “Football is nothing without its fans; it’s a fan-centric sport and chants are an intrinsic part of football’s appeal. They wouldn’t be played in stadiums if they weren’t essential to the vibe. It’s why chants go down so well, because they make you feel part of something bigger, together. So it’s really important for something like the Women’s Euros, but also more broadly with different sports, that the fans feel that they are not only welcome but appreciated and part of the tournament as much as the squad is.

“I would say that the key to a good chant is a big chorus that gets people going and doesn’t need much explanation. You just need to have it easy so anyone can pick it up immediately, whether in the stands or in the pub garden.”

Michelle West, Head of Sport at Greene King, said: “At Greene King, we’ve already committed to show all of the Women’s Euros games in our sports pubs, but we’re also committed to making all of our pubs as inclusive as possible, ensuring that both women’s sport fans and pubgoers in general feel part of the action this summer. We’re proud to be turning up the volume on women’s sport, with our chant books providing the perfect soundtrack to the summer of sport – hopefully to accompany a great deal of Lioness goals throughout the tournament!”

Greene King’s chant book is just one of several enhancements Greene King is making for this historic summer of women’s sport. The pub and brewing company has also unveiled its first-ever celebratory  beer for women’s sports, just like it has done before for men’s tournaments. Available to order in selected Greene King pubs, Cheers Her(e) is a 4% ABV pale ale with juicy citrus and tropical fruit characters – the perfect refreshing pint to enjoy in celebration of women’s sport.
