Belhaven Brewery Unleashes a Bold New Lager for Pubs this September
Following a successful trial in Scottish pubs earlier this year, Belhaven Brewery has launched a new lager, Belter, now available for outlets to order.
Belter is a 4% ABV golden lager that delivers a refreshing, subtly sweet profile with hints of citrus and tropical fruit. Crisp, clean, and easy-drinking, Belter is the perfect Scottish pint to enjoy.
The golden lager is proudly Scottish, and its striking red badge has been designed to catch the consumer’s eye at the bar. The burst of sunshine behind the brand name in the badge design is a nod to the location of Belhaven Brewery in Dunbar, which is often referred to as ‘Sunny Dunny’ and sits on the coastline.
The beer was initially trialled in a number of Edinburgh pubs earlier this year. This allowed the brewery to gather targeted feedback on the product and refine the branding and the beer itself for wider distribution. The brewery also conducted extensive consumer research to ensure the beer met lager drinkers' preferences.
The Brewery is also celebrating the Visitor Experience being awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2025 this month, placing it in the top 10% of attractions worldwide. Situated in Dunbar, Belhaven Brewery welcomes beer lovers around the world to experience its award-winning Visitor Experience that celebrates the oldest working brewery in Scotland and its brewing history.
Fiona Matheson, Marketing Manager for Belhaven Brewery, said: “We are thrilled to be launching our new lager into the wider market and we’re proud of the beer we’ve brewed.
“‘Belter’ means ‘admirable, outstanding or thrilling’, and we felt this was the perfect fit for our new Belhaven lager. As the oldest working brewery in Scotland, heritage is a key part of who we are and we continue to highlight this in our portfolio of beers.
“Now that it’s on sale, our customers are really enjoying Belter and we can’t wait to see more outlets offering the beer and customers enjoying a pint across Scotland.”
