Find karaoke pubs near you – it’s time to sing your heart out!

At Greene King pubs, we LOVE karaoke, and our karaoke pubs love nothing more than to pull out all the stops to hear Linda’s third rendition of ‘My Heart Will Go On’... We get it, Linda. They both could’ve fit on the door.

Anyway, we’ve pulled together a list of our best karaoke pubs from across the UK so that you can plan your next performance in style. And now, it’s time to dust off your vocal chords, get those high notes nailed and grab the mic with both hands at a karaoke pub near you.

Karaoke at a Greene King pub

When it comes to a night of karaoke, our karaoke pubs know how to party in style. From the atmosphere to the drinks and even when our team get up on stage to belt a ballad, Greene King pubs know how to party.

Make sure you get your round in nice and early to loosen up before your big performance. It also helps when you’re trying not to wince at Bob’s shoddy attempt at Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’. We like to get a nice, cold pint of beer to start us off, but behind the bar, there’s plenty to choose from! With beers, ciders, wines, spirits and more all ready and waiting to be poured, you’re in for a good night even if you don’t remember all the words.

To see when you can get involved with karaoke at a pub near you, just check out the ‘What’s on’ section on their website to get all the latest information, including times, dates and the theme of the evening.

Our best karaoke pubs

We’ve got so many amazing karaoke pubs that it was hard to choose just five! Take a look at our top recommendation, but make sure you search for a karaoke pub near you to find the hidden gems.

Drouthy’s, Glasgow

Possibly the best karaoke night you can have at a Greene King pub, Drouthy’s karaoke night shows Glasgow a good time every Friday and Saturday. Starting at 8pm sharp and continuing until closing time, get ready for a medley of music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and recent times with regulars and holiday goers coming together in one incredible show. Not up to singing tonight? No problem! The team at Drouthy’s love an excuse to get up, bust a move and belt a tune – and they’re pretty good at it too, if you ask us.

Drouthy’s karaoke nights are filled with every genre, every ability and a ton of dance moves. It’s certainly a night worth making a trip for!

Smiddy Inn, Cumbernauld

On the outskirts of Cumbernauld, the Smiddy Inn takes karaoke very seriously. On Fridays and Saturdays from 9pm until 11:45pm, Smiddy Inn becomes the place to be if you’re a fan of off-key covers of all your favourite songs. Sing your heart out, dance away or do a bit of both. Either way, Smiddy Inn is Cumbernauld’s answer to ‘Where can we go for a good night out?’

Plus, students can enjoy a whopping 20% off at the Smiddy Inn, which means your night just got a whole lot cheaper. Rounds on the young ‘uns, anyone?

Ship Anson, Portsmouth

Just around the corner from Portsmouth’s iconic docks, get your glad rags on, dust off your dancing shoes and get ready for karaoke at the Ship Anson! The fun starts nice and early every Friday at 7:30pm and carries on all night until 11pm, making it your one-stop shop for karaoke in Portsmouth. Whether you ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ or you’re the ‘Dancing Queen’, you’ll find any and every song right here.

And the Ship Anson makes a mean cocktail too, so you can sip on something sweet (did someone say mojitos?) while you sing and dance to your heart’s content.

Dog & Partridge, Blackpool

After a day at the seaside, you’ll want to stop in at the Dog & Partridge in Blackpool for a night of entertainment. Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm until 11:45pm, the team at the Dog & Partridge get the party started with a DJ and karaoke! With all the best hits, including Queen, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and more, there’s a song for everyone, every time. While you’re singing, dancing and having a great time, make sure to take advantage of the great deals on offer at the Dog & Partridge! They’ve got some fabulous deals on spirits every day, so you can sip and save the night away.

Coach & Horses, Soho

Thursday night at the Coach & Horses can mean only one thing. You guessed it! KARAOKE! 7pm until 10pm, the Coach & Horses is the place to be in Soho, with great food and drinks to help you mitigate the aftermath of a dirty Thursday. Whether it’s work drinks turned wild or a mate-date meet-up, you’re in for a night of singing, dancing and great times, right here.
Everyone’s welcome at the Coach & Horses, and don’t worry if your pipes are a little rusty because the team here have heard it all (and worse) before.

The history of karaoke

Whether you’re the next Lewis Capaldi or you’re here on a dare – fantasy football losers, we’re talking about you – you’ve probably wondered why everyone’s into this karaoke malarkey.

It turns out, the first karaoke machine was invented by one Daisuke Inoue in Japan back in the 1970s. Before that, a similar mechanic was used in a 1960s TV show called ‘Sing with Mitch’, where viewers could sing along at home with the lyrics on screen. In 1982, the first karaoke bar opened in LA and throughout the 80s and 90s, karaoke machines became staples in most Japanese homes and bars.

Allegedly, the first instance of karaoke was at a bar in Japan, when a singer was unable to perform and, in an attempt to save the night, the owner invited customers to come up on stage and sing instead.

In 2003, the first Karaoke World Championships were held in Finland, and the rest is history. Ever since, pub goers have been singing their hearts out in their locals across the world.
