About our pub

The George Inn, built in 1676, is London's only surviving galleried inn. To this day we reign as the London Bridge pub to savour British ales and Shakespeare's tales.

The George, London

Dating back to the 17th century, The George is a pub that has stood the test of time and continues to welcome all who visit the changing face of London. We’re the last surviving galleried inn in London and just a two-minute walk from popular Borough Market. A stone’s throw from the Shard and London Bridge, we’re the perfect spot to unwind in between busy tourist attractions.

Our claim to fame is being mentioned in the Charles Dickens novel Little Dorrit, with the author himself having visited the site of the pub when it was still a coffee house. Book today to experience a timeless piece of London’s heritage as noted by the National Trust.

A pub for all

Take in the history and enjoy the family-friendly and dog-welcoming setting when you visit The George. We have free Wi-Fi to offer you inside to keep the little ones entertained and a generous beer garden out front for those who want to soak in the sights of London.

Delicious food and drink for any occasion

Serving real ales and classic Sunday roast, The George has a wide variety of drinks and dishes to enjoy. If you’re after the winning combination of cold beer and hot, freshly made authentic British comfort food, be sure to book your meal with us.
