An amateur chef from Bewdley has been announced as the winner in a nationwide search for the UK’s best family recipes.
Lyn Foxall was awarded the title by pub brand, Chef & Brewer for her culinary creation – a luxurious rum bread and butter pudding served with a bourbon butterscotch sauce and custard.
Local cookery enthusiast, Lyn entered the dish into a nationwide competition from the pub brand earlier this year, competing with hundreds of other foodie entries from all over the country.
As well as receiving a £500 cash prize, her sumptuous dessert will also be added to Chef & Brewer pub menus up and down the country from 2 October, including the Running Horse Inn on Longbank.
Lyn said: “My Mum is a fabulous cook and inspired me to get into the kitchen from a young age, so when I saw the competition to find the UK’s best family recipe the opportunity was just too good to miss.
“My rum bread and butter pudding was one of the first dishes I learnt to make when I was 15, and I still enjoy making it just as much today – it’s a firm family favourite!
“I’m absolutely thrilled that the dish has been added to the Chef & Brewer menu. I hope that other guests enjoy it just as much as I do!”
Manuela Tanase, general manager Lyn's local Chef & Brewer, the Running Horse Inn, said: “Meal times are all about sharing family moments, so we thought it would be a great idea to turn to our guests for their favourite family recipes.
“Lyn’s bread and butter pudding is absolutely delicious – we’re sure it’s going to be a crowd pleaser for our guests, particularly those with a sweet tooth!
“We’re so pleased that the UK’s best family recipe was found in Bewdley."
Lyn’s Rum Bread and Butter Pudding is available from £5.29 at the Running Horse Inn and over 140 pubs nationwide from 2 October. To view the full menu, visit www.chefandbrewer.com/food/main-menu
