What makes a pub stand head and shoulders above the rest? If you ask us, it's the people. It takes a village to provide great food, refreshing pints and a great atmosphere all day every day, and luckily we've got a seriously talented team of managers, chefs and bartenders at the Malt House. We sat down with Jon, Lee and Jack to tell us why the Malt House is so special, and what it's like working in the UK's second city.Meet our general manager

Bartender"So my name is Jack, I'm a bartender here at the Malt House, and I've been working with Greene King since September 2020. I think it's probably one of the most fun jobs you can have. It's a great experience. When customers come in after a long day for a pint... that look on their face when they have the first sip of the drink–it's just wholesome in a way.
My favourite event is a wedding, because they usually hire a member of staff to run the bar upstairs. Everyone's lovely, in a good mood and the drinks are flowing. Because it's just one person on that bar, you build a bond with all of the customers. It's really intimate and personal and just beautiful. Me being a uni student, it's perfect because my uni is really close. I live close too, so everything's nearby. Finish your shift. Head straight out to Broad Street. It's perfect."
