About the Roebuck
Perfected over generationsThe Roebuck has been treating customers to the spectacular views of Richmond Hill since 1717, a view celebrated in world-famous paintings by Jasper Francis Cropsey, Sir Joshua Reynolds and of course, J.M.W Turner. Carefully refurbished and restored for 2024, our pub can be enjoyed by generations to come, with beautiful surroundings to make every moment memorable.
Treat your family to a special dinner, pop in for a lunchtime pint or kick back and relax after a walk with your four-legged friend. At the Roebuck we know you’ll find your drink of choice, plus a menu full of comforting classics. We love an excuse to celebrate too, so if you’re looking for somewhere to plan a party, look no further than The Turner Room, our private dining space, or speak to the team about other private reservation options.
The art of brewing
We are passionate about the art of brewing, so behind the bar you’ll find a wide selection of beers and fine cask ales to celebrate this much-loved craft, including regularly changing guest ales and craft beers.
All it takes is four natural ingredients–malt, hops, yeast, and water–but a truly satisfying beer also takes a barrel full of passion, care, and expertise. Let us help you find your favourite, and know that whether you're looking for a fruity IPA or the intense, silky flavours of a warm malty real ale, our friendly team is schooled in the art of the perfect serve.
A classic British experience
We're immensely proud of our historic pubs and their refined yet classic food and drink menus. Sink your teeth into our homemade pub snacks, savour a sharing platter or try our best-ever scotch egg, complete with oozing orange yolk. You can even indulge in the king of comfort food, a fish finger sandwich, or pie and mash to ease your way through the day. From hearty roasts and moreish starters, whatever time of day you pop and see us, you’ll find some delicious dishes to choose from.
Welcome to Richmond
Referred to as ‘an unrivalled landscape’ by Sir Walter Scott, Richmond Hill has been captivating artists and writers alike for centuries, which is probably why it's the only view in Britain specifically preserved by an Act of Parliament. From the Roebuck, you’ll be able to take in the full beauty of the surrounding landscape, from boats floating along the Thames to cattle grazing on Petersham Meadow.
If you’re looking for things to go in Greater London, Richmond is a great place to visit, with direct trains from London Waterloo or via the Underground’s District Line. Take a stroll around the world-famous Kew Gardens, brush up on your history at Ham House or explore the charming shops along Richmond High Street–the choice is yours! And when it’s time to rest your feet and recharge with traditional food and drink, we’ll have a table ready and waiting for you at the Roebuck.
