THE WARD ROOM

The Ward Room, so named after the family of successive landlords from 1894 to 1989, is the first space that greets you as you walk through the door. Hewn out of the cliff's natural sandstone, this cosy space is perfect for a few leisurely pints of ale, while you play a few rounds of ‘Ringing the Horn', an ancient pub game where players take turns swinging a rope-suspended ring at a wall-mounted bull horn. Trust us – it’s a lot of fun!

YORKEY'S LOUNGE

In the heart of the building, with windows overlooking the Secret Garden, you’ll find Yorkey’s Lounge, affectionately named after the venerable George Henry Ward. With its open fireplace, comfortable seating and Yorkey’s photograph proudly on display, this room is cosy and inviting, where visitors can relax and fill up on hearty, traditional pub fare. Some say you may even catch a glimpse of Yorkey, still sitting in his corner chair.

THE HAUNTED SNUG

The Haunted Snug, located in the south-eastern corner of the ground floor, features an Edwardian fireplace, rustic wooden beams, and various antique furnishings. Some customers report an eerie feeling in this room, while others enjoy its traditional pub ambience. You’ll have to come to your own conclusions as to whether or not it’s haunted; however, we can vouch for one thing – it is indeed, snug.

THE ROCK LOUNGE

Head up the short staircase, and you’ll discover the Rock Lounge, where curiosities adorn the walls and above the bar encased in a clear display box sits the infamous Cursed Galleon. Legend has it that anyone who dares touch the Galleon will meet an untimely end; hence, the Rock Lounge is a focal point for the pub’s reported paranormal shenanigans. Linked to the Rock Lounge by a bridge passageway lies the Museum Room, with its natural sandstone walls and even more cosy nooks for quiet drinks.
