About The Kings Head

Perfected over generations

The Kings Head was first licensed in 1822 and open by 1824, tying it to London's Regency-era boom. Interestingly, the pub sign has always depicted Charles I – a curious anachronism that remains a mystery. What we do know is that by 1993, it was home to London's largest chess club, with over 120 regular members. It was also the birthplace of Victorian actress and author, Mary Ansell, inextricably linking it to James Matthew Barrie and the world of Peter Pan.

A brief jaunt from Bayswater Underground Station, this historic pub makes the perfect pitstop, where you can recharge while enjoying a plate of refined pub fare washed down with a pint or two of our well-kept cask ale.
