Welcome to the Watergates, a historic inn in the heart of Chester that offers a pub experience like no other. You'll find our doors on the bustling Watergate Street, yet the real magic happens when you step inside to discover a pub built within a medieval crypt - dating back as far as 1180. From the beautifully preserved stone-vaulted ceilings to the timber-fronted bar and striking Gothic arches, it's a setting in which to sip and savour. Which is just as well, as we have plenty at the bar, from cask ales to beers, world wines, spirits, cocktails and low and no-alcohol options. Come hungry, as our pub food menu is serving up perfect plates of pub classics, as well as sharers, small bites and tempting puddings. Our warm welcome extends to the whole family - including dogs. We hope to see you all soon!
If you need an excuse to get together with all your favourite people, we’ve got plenty. Send out the invite, dust off your dance moves, and check out what’s coming up at Watergates Bar.
