WORKING FOR BREWING & BRANDS
It’s in our breweries that we have a great time creating our unique range of beers for customers to enjoy all over the world. But working for our Brewing & Brands division can be about more than just the craft itself.
Join our breweries team and you’ll become part of the business that’s responsible for brewing, distributing, marketing and selling our wide range of award-winning crafted ales across the UK and the world!
Whether you’re a brewing operative, brand manager, sales development manager, cellar service engineer or one of the many other professionals in this team, you’ll have endless opportunities to get involved in.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
No matter what your skills are, there’ll be a great role for you within our breweries team. Here’s a brief introduction to the departments within our Brewing & Brands division.
Brewing and distribution
This team is responsible for all the activities at the brewery itself. This includes our distribution centres, supply chain, cellar service departments, mechanical and electrical engineers, laboratory, draught beer warehouse, bottling and brewing.
Our marketing team works to make our beers even better-known. Here you’ll find brand managers as well as our PR and events team working across all of our national trade marketing channels.
Free trade sales
The free trade sales team is responsible for selling our brands into ‘free-of-tie’ pubs – pubs that are free to buy products from any supplier.
This is the team that’s responsible for selling our brands to national wholesalers.
Take home sales
Some of our beer lovers prefer to buy in store and drink at home. This team works to sell our brands to supermarkets and other retailers within that UK that then sell our beers on.
We have customers all over the world and our export sales team is responsible for selling our beers internationally.
This team works closely with the sales, marketing, and brewing and distribution teams to ensure that our finances are all in order. It’s their role to ensure that our Is are dotted and our Ts are crossed!
A day in the life of Scott Fokinther, brewing shift manager at Westgate Brewery
Scott’s been part of the Greene King family for more than a decade. Always an important member of the breweries team, he started as a fermenting operator before moving up to team leader and more recently to his current role of brewing shift manager.
On each of his shifts Scott is one of four brewing managers who together have responsibility for managing a team of around 25. It’s Scott’s job to ensure that the operations all run smoothly and on time. Scott works a mixture of day and night shifts – four days on, then four days off – so he often gets more time with his kids after school or can run his errands when it’s quiet in town!
"The best thing about working in the Westgate Brewery is seeing the product go out every day and knowing that I’ve been a part of it."
"I have contact with our products all the way through the brewing process, I know exactly what they’ve been through and, hand on heart, I know how great our beer truly is. So when I see people enjoying a Greene King pint in the pub or buying a few bottles off the supermarket shelves I feel really proud."
