The Craft Academy opened its first ever London training brewery at The Florence pub in Herne Hill, with a two-day launch event at the beginning of September.

The aim of the Craft Academy is to unbottle potential, give young people the chance to earn while they learn about brewing, marketing and sales, and, of course, brew great beer! Its first two apprentices, Dan and Nancy, were recruited in October 2016 and started learning about the core range of Craft Academy beers comprising a black IPA, rye beer and hopped-up lager among others, before being given the opportunity to get creative themselves. Dan’s first beer, Icebreaker, is available now, dry hopped with citra and simcoe hops (lupulin powder), waves of guava and passionfruit with big citrus flavours.

We caught up with Nancy, one of the brewing apprentices, who told us what it’s like working for the Craft Academy, and to keep an eye out for her own beer coming soon…
