For the past two years our west London pub the Finery has become the home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars when they come to the UK to play at Wembley. Pub manager, Monica Dumitrescu, explains how the pub is becoming their home from home.
We were thrilled when the Jaguars chose the Finery as their local pub last year and it was even better to welcome them back again.
Everyone comes along before their game from the players to the cheerleaders and they’re happy to meet all their UK fans. We try our best as well to deck the place out in Jaguars colours and flags to really make them feel at home.
On the day they visited we sectioned off our restaurant area for the cheerleaders and the team, our basement room acted as a private area for the fans and the main floor stayed open for everyone. Even Jaxson de Ville, the Jaguars’ mascot was there, entertaining fans and taking pictures. The whole place was buzzing and you can see how much excitement the NFL is starting to bring to the UK.
The team while kind enough to give us all a Jaguars t-shirts and we watched the game live. Unfortunately they were beaten pretty comfortably by Baltimore Ravens but we still can’t wait to have them back next time.
