Guests enjoying their Friday evening at Greene King Locals Pub, the Anchor, were treated to an acoustic performance by Tim Burgess and Mark Collins from The Charlatans.

The duo took to the stage for an acoustic set at the Anchor, Bankside on Park Street after Radio X’s live broadcast with Johnny Vaughan from the Greene King pub.

General manager of the Anchor, John Gohery, said: “The event was a real success and the guests really enjoyed the intimate performance by Tim and Mark from The Charlatans as well as the live broadcast with Johnny Vaughan. It’s been difficult to keep it a secret so I’m really pleased it was such a success.

“The evening continues a summer of live music events as we search for the next big thing with our Live at your Local final competition taking place at the Indigo, O2 this Friday headlined by Razorlight.”

This was the second Radio X live broadcast organised by Greene King, the first of which saw Simon Fowler and Oscar Harrison from Ocean Colour Scene perform an intimate gig in a Manchester pub in June. The broadcasts form part of the summer long partnership between the pub company and Radio X. The collaboration has already seen the release of an exclusive new ale, Amplified, which is available in more than 700 pubs across the UK and live on air pub quiz.

The final of Greene King’s ‘Live at Your Local’ will take place on Friday 18 August, tickets are £10 and proceeds are in aid of Global’s Make Some Noise, tickets can be purchased by visiting www.greeneking.co.uk/music.
