A Manchester pub has created a ‘safe place’ for Game of Thrones fans, ahead of the highly anticipated season finale on Monday 28 August.
Greene King pub, The White Horse in Swinton – which has renamed itself the White Walker in honour of the occasion – has created a space where WiFi is blocked and people who mention spoilers are barred, theories are not allowed and punters can be safe in the knowledge they know nothing, Jon Snow.
The ‘Safe Place’ has been created to prevent spoilers as the TV show is available through streaming services from 2am on Monday, ahead of its UK broadcast at 9pm.
Les Dean, who is joint general manager with husband Mike, said: “We know how devastating it is when you’ve managed to avoid spoilers all day, only to hear about a death from a ‘sort of friend’ on Facebook or Dan in accounts. That’s why we’re offering a safe space for those who need it.”
The pub is also offering a Thrones-themed menu on Monday 28 August ahead of the finale so super fans can also enjoy dishes from the show, including Hot Pie’s Beef and Ale Pie, BBQ Dragon Wings and Chicken Tyrion Massala.
Mike added: “Game of Thrones is more than just a TV show – to many of our guests it has become an integral part of their life, and the reason Mondays are no longer quite so painful, that’s why we’re seeing out the penultimate season in true Game of Thrones style.”
Kings and Queens of the North are encouraged to head to the White Walker early on Monday 28 August to enjoy a pint and a Westeros-inspired bite to eat, in peace ahead of the season finale.
