GREENE KING SUPPORTS THE INAUGURAL LESBIAN VISIBILITY WEEK

Greene King, the UK’s leading managed pub company and brewer, is supporting the inaugural Lesbian Visibility Week (20-26 April 2020) which aims to recognise, celebrate and support lesbian, non-binary lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer women across the UK and beyond.

The awareness week, which has been launched by DIVA Media Group, will see a range of digital events take place across the week. Kicking off on Monday (20 April) will be the launch of largest piece of research ever conducted into the lives of LGBTQI women, followed by the unveiling of the Visible Lesbian 100 list and daily digital conferences on topics related to women in work and the LGBT+ community.

Greene King, which is a sponsor of Lesbian Visibility Week, had planned to mark the campaign with a number of events in pubs across the country to celebrate LGBTQI women. However, due to the Covid-19 crisis the company is postponing the events until later in the year and will instead be supporting the week by celebrating the LGBTQI women that work at Greene King on its social media channels.

Karen Bosher, Managing Director for Greene King Premium, Urban and Venture pubs and Exec Sponsor for Greene King’s LGBT+ Network, The Village Greene, said: “We are extremely proud to be backing the inaugural Lesbian Visibility Week. While I’m disappointed that we can’t put on our celebration events, our commitment to this campaign is not a one-off and we will continue to work with DIVA on how best to use our pubs to support the community.”

Linda Riley, Publisher of DIVA magazine, said: “I am delighted to continue our relationship with Greene King and to have them onboard to back Lesbian Visibility Week, after our successful partnership for London Pride 2019. Working together, we can make a real difference to LGBTQI women and I’m really looking forward to attending the celebration events at Greene King pubs later this year.”
