Live At Your Local

Live at Your Local Music Talent Competition is open to UK residents only, aged 18+. To take part in Live at Your Local entrants will need to sign up in a participating Greene King pub.  Entrants will be asked to confirm the detail of their act and required to supply their own equipment. There will be a limited number of places available per pub and the manager’s decision as to which entrants may participate is final and binding.

In-pub heats will take place from 1st June 2017 to 9th July 2017. One winner per pub will progress to the regional finals, which will take place between 14th and 30th July 2017.  Winners of the regional final will be contacted by 31st July 2017 and will have their performance shared online at greeneking.co.uk/music. The seven regional finalists with the most online votes will progress to the national final on 18th August 2017. The winner of Live at Your Local will be announced on the night of the final at the venue, Indigo, at the O2 in London.  

Full Terms & Conditions

  1. This competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over only. Employees of Greene King, their families, agencies, or anyone else professionally connected with this competition are not eligible to enter.
  2. Entrants must:
    1. Register their interest at their preferred participating pub, disclosing full details of their act.
    2. Be able to provide their own equipment to facilitate their act and cover travel expenses throughout the competition.
    3. Sign and acknowledge full understanding and agreement to these terms and conditions.
  3. Entrant’s participation will be confirmed by the manager of the pub, who will endeavour to give as much notice as possible as to the allocated heat.
  4. Live at Your Local in-pub competitions will take place between 1st June 2017 – 9th July 2017. One winner per pub will be chosen by the manager at his discretion.
  5. Pub level winners will be invited by the pub manager to participate in one of up to twenty regional finals, at a venue to be determined nearer the time.
  6. Regional finals will take place between 14th and 30th July.
  7. Entrants will be responsible for their own expenses incurred in travelling to a regional final.
  8. By agreeing to these terms and conditions entrants acknowledge that they will be filmed performing their songs and that the videos of their performances may be available to view at greeneking.co.uk/music, if they are a winner of a regional final.
  9. The regional winners will be chosen by a panel of judges, by majority vote. The judges’ decision will be final and binding.
  10. Participation in the national final will be determined by a public vote to find the best 7 acts from the regional winners.  Voting will be online and details of how to vote, and the terms and conditions attaching thereto, will be available when voting goes live, between 5th and 10th August 2017.  Voting will be accessible by Greeneking.co.uk/music. In the event of a tie for 7th place an independent judge will have the final decision as to who advances to the national final. The winning acts, being those with the most votes, will be announced on 11th August 2017.
  11. The top seven acts chosen by the public will then be invited to the national final, to be held on Friday 18th August 2017 at the Indigo at the O2 in London.  Entrants will be responsible for their own expenses incurred in travelling to the national final.
  12. The national winner will be chosen by a panel of judges, by majority vote. The judges’ decision will be final and binding.
  13. The prizes:
    1. For the Live at Your local winner of each participating Greene King Pub (one winner per pub) the prize is discretionary and will advised by the manager.
    2. For the winners of the Regional finals a case of exclusive Greene King cask ale will be provided. A maximum of 12 bottles will be issued to each winner. Any additional prize will be at the discretion of the pub hosting the regional final.
    3. For the one national winner of Live at Your Local the prizes include:
    4. Full day recording experience in a top London studio. Travel and fine dining included for the winner/s and up to 4 friends or family. The studio boasts state of the art recording and production facilities and has hosted various international talents through its doors. This prize is only redeemable on the 2nd September 2017. The Promoter reserves the right to amend the prize where necessary due to unforeseen circumstances.
    5. £5k cash prize will be awarded to the winning act. The winner/s should note that £5k is the total cash amount and a group/band wins the Live at Your Local national event the amount will need to be distributed at the winner’s discretion. Winners will need to nominate a UK bank account into which the prize will be paid. The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the prize where necessary should the winners not meet the necessary requirements. The winner should allow 28 days for the prize to be delivered, having supplied accurate details.
    6. Win your weight in beer: The Promoter will provide the winning Live at Your Local act with an allocation of Greene King ales. The total weight of the product supplied which will take into account packaging will equal the approximate weight of the act. This will not include equipment. The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash equivalent.
    7. The winning act will have their recording added to the Greene King playlist of songs played in suitable managed Greene King pubs. This is subject to the material recorded being deemed suitable and inoffensive to guests. The recorded material will need to be original to avoid the issues regarding copyright and adhere to the requirements of our music supply system. The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the prize where necessary should the winner not meet the necessary requirements.

  14. The Promoter reserves the right to amend the voting processes outlined above ahead of any competitions taking place.
  15. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winner/s throughout the duration of the competition using the details provided on entry. If a selected winner is unavailable or unreachable,  or otherwise in breach of these terms and conditions, or unable to take up the prize for any other reason, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner using the same process referred to above in these terms and conditions.
  16. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for failed delivery of prizes due to the provision of incorrect contact details by the entrant.
  17. The winner agrees to the passing of their contact details to, and to being contacted by, Greene King Brewing and Retailing Ltd in order to arrange their prize and to discuss any specific requirements.
  18. The terms and conditions of any third party supplier will also apply to the prize where applicable. If there is a conflict between third party terms and conditions and these terms and conditions, these shall take precedence.
  19. The prizes are non-transferable and cannot be sold or auctioned. No cash or other alternative to the prizes will be offered except in the event of unforeseen circumstances, in which case the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value than the original.
  20. We are required to comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Act") in relation to the processing of any personal information we obtain from you, including any details you submit to enter the competition. The Promoter is a member of the Greene King group of companies (the “Group”), and the Group takes the protection of your personal information seriously.
  21. By entering this competition, you agree that we may collect and retain the personal information that you submit, for example but not limited to your name, address and email address. Any personal information collected may be used:
    1. to communicate with you to provide details about our products and services and personalise our service to you;
    2. to help us improve our services; and
    3. to communicate with you for administrative or operational reasons connected with the promotion.
  22. Your personal information may be shared with other companies in the Group, but we will not pass your personal information to any other external organisation without your prior permission.  If you would like to opt out of receiving information about Greene King and the Group, to access the personal information or to change the details that we hold please contact the Company Secretary at companysecretary@greeneking.co.uk.
  23. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify participants.
  24. No responsibility will be accepted for any damage to personal equipment used as part of an entrant’s performance.
  25. The Promoter reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to verify the, including but not limited to, proof of identity and/or age, as required, and to withdraw a prize where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these terms and conditions or otherwise where an entrant has gained advantage in participating in the promotion or has won using fraudulent means. 
  26. The Promoter's decision is binding in all matters relating to this competition, and no correspondence shall be entered into.
  27. Owing to exceptional circumstances outside its reasonable control and only where circumstances make this unavoidable, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition or these terms and conditions at any time but will always endeavor to minimize the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
  28. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter accepts no liability for any damage, loss or injury suffered (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way due to entering this competition or taking up a prize. The Promoter is not responsible for any third party acts or omissions.
  29. Entrants will retain ownership of any content, submissions and other material they submit as part of this competition. However, entrants grant the Promoter (and its agents and affiliates) a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to use any such content, submissions and other material for the purposes of this competition.
  30. The winner of each stage of the competition (inpub heats, regional finals and the national final) may be required to take part in publicity relating to this competition. The name and county of the regional and national winners will be available for 3 months following 18th August 2017 upon application with a SAE to Live at your Local competition, Greene King Brewing and Retailing Limited, Sunrise House, Ninth Avenue, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 2WF.
  31. By entering this competition entrants will be deemed to have accepted, and will be bound by, these terms and conditions.
  32. These terms and conditions (and any non-contractual disputes/claims which arise out of or in connection with them) will be governed by English law and entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
