Philip Yea

Philip was appointed to the board in February 2016 and became chairman in May 2016. He is chairman of Equiniti Group plc, a non-executive director of Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc and Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Ltd and also an independent director and trustee of the Francis Crick Institute. Philip was previously finance director of Diageo plc and chief executive of 3i Group plc. He has chaired a number of companies both public and private across a wide range of sectors and has been a director of UK listed companies for over 20 years.

Rooney Anand

Rooney joined the group as managing director of the brewing division and was promoted to chief executive in 2005. He was previously president and managing director of the UK bakery division at Sara Lee, the international consumer goods business, and, prior to that was at United Biscuits.

Richard Smothers

Richard joined Greene King in 2017 from Mothercare plc where he was CFO for three years. Prior to this he was director of group finance at Rexam plc and has also held a number of senior finance roles during 14 years at Tesco plc.

Mike Coupe

Mike was appointed to the board in 2011. He is the chief executive of J Sainsbury plc and also brings knowledge from working for other large, multi-site retail organisations, including Asda and Tesco, before that.

Rob Rowley

Rob joined the board in 2014 and has extensive board experienced gained as a former finance director of the Reuters Group plc. He is currently non-executive director of Camelot UK Lotteries Ltd and has previously been a non-executive director of Taylor Wimpey plc, Moneysupermarket.com Group plc and Morgan Advanced Materials plc. Rob was appointed senior independent director in 2015.

Lynne Weedall

Lynne was appointed to the board in 2012. She is currently HR director of Selfridges Group. Previously at Dixons Carphone Warehouse Group plc, Lynne brings to the board a wealth of experience of HR and organisational development gained from a variety of roles in the retail sector and elsewhere.

Gordon Fryett

Gordon was appointed to the board in December 2016. He has many years’ experience in retail operations and property matters having held a number of senior positions within the Tesco Group including that of Group Property Director until his retirement in November 2013. Gordon was also non-executive director of Severn Trent plc from 2009 until July 2016 and is currently non-executive director of WJL Group Ltd.

John Forrest

John joined Greene King in January 2016 as chief operating officer for the Greene King Pub Company and in 2017 he became managing director for Pub Partners. Prior to Greene King, John was chief operating officer for Premier Inn and held roles at Whitbread PLC for eight years. John has also had retail experience at Marks & Spencer and The Body Shop. 

Richard Lewis

Richard joined Greene King in 2011 as managing director of Local Pubs. In 2014 Richard was appointed managing director, Destinations Pubs & Restaurants Business and in 2015 managing director, Greene King Retail before taking on the role of group integration director in 2016. After helping Greene King successfully navigate the integration with Spirit Pub Company, he became chief property officer and in 2017 took up the role of chief operating officer.  Richard has previously had retail experience at Kingfisher, Sainsbury's and The Warehouse, New Zealand’s largest non-food retailer.

Phil Thomas

Phil joined Greene King in March 2017 with extensive FMCG experience from Reckitt Benckiser and P&G. Prior to his appointment at Greene King, he spent 10 years at RB in a range of senior Marketing, Country General Management (UK and China) and Global Category leadership roles. Before this, Phil spent 15 years at P&G in numerous marketing and sales roles across the UK, USA and various European markets.

Andrew Bush

Andrew joined Greene King in 2017 from Brakes Group where he was group human resources director for five years. Prior to this, he was HR director at Argos. Before that he held a variety of senior HR roles in the Kingfisher Group, including group reward director and head of HR for Superdrug.
